The next few days passed without any event. Jessica’s step-mother had agreed that she would not visit until we all felt Jessica was ready.

About a week into her stay I received word that Jessica had been spotted drinking alcohol with some other teenagers in the park.

She had lied to me that she was going to the library and had been out of the house all afternoon. When she got home that evening I resolved to get straight to bottom of the matter.
